Overview
GameGolf is the world’s first automatic shot tracking system for today’s golfer. It gives you a revolutionary way to track shot performance. Shot by shot, it records all your stats so you can visualize your game like never before, whether you’re on your way to break 80 or just actively working on your game. The GameGolf platform can help you reach your next milestone. As a senior product deisgner I was working on software and hardware products.
Problem
Based on observed behavior via analytics and synthesized user interviews, we discovered that users wanted to understand the progress they had made to celebrate with their support network, as well as to get specific feedbacks from their coaches on 'in session' progress relating to effort, intensity, focus, technique.
And coaches wanted to easily manage their students, provide quick assessments of their students’ current progress, record notes from lessons and aggregate in one spot.
As a first step, I collaborated with the VP of product and CEO to design a research sprint. We gathered enough information to inform a design while providing enough time to allow for solution exploration, prototyping and user acceptance testing.
In the discovery phase I also collaborated with the VP of product and CEO to design a research sprint. We gathered enough information to inform a design while providing enough time to allow for solution exploration, prototyping and user acceptance testing.
Solution
We explored a number of approaches in order to visually a player’s profile, aptitude mapping, and relative scoring to a make share-monitor-collaborate scenario between players and their coaches possible .
By addressing the barriers players had to exercise, their attendance could be maintained when their initial motivation levels drop. The thinking behind was” The results will follow once the behavior is established”.
Wireframes
I started with an exploration of main usage scenarios, then switched to rapid wireframing and testing the user flows in order to define key layouts and interaction patterns.
Web
To ensure GameGolf users stayed highly engaged with our web application, I structured its interface the way to highlight progress history and to link it to players actions and their collaboration with coaches.
Progress reviews gave our users a formal opportunity to dig around with their coaches to see if the training approach was working and/or what could be improved. By far this was one of the most valuable use cases for the web app.
Mobile
The mobile device has truly become one of the strongest connections a brand can have to its customers. It’s so valuable that most people keep their device within reach at all times. We as a company could expect regular engagement through it if properly addressing mobile engagement use cases.
In order to benefit from the mobile application, the instant per-to-per collaboration and real-time monitoring use cases were addressed through the application interface.
Industrial design
Industrial design is about creating an object. To be commercially successful, its physical form-factor needs to fit with the ergonomics of the industry of which it is a part. Giving an object its form is also a process where industrial design and engineering have to work together to deliver the best possible outcome against costs. I was inspired by these two dimensions while working on a physical device for GameGolf.
